In Summer 2023, undergraduate researchers will get an opportunity to work on some practical problems with the international team at Georgia Tech, Georgia State University and University of Southampton, UK in the area of applied mathematics, nonlinear dynamics and energy harvesting with soft electro-active polymers. Possible specific projects include learning of nonlinear dynamical analysis and computational methods, in order to analyze the vibro-impact systems for energy harvesting and targeted energy transfer. With this expertise, they will be able to further explore the impact of variation in design parameters for the devices on their performance and energy output. They can also study the dynamics of system under the influence of noise associated with the input parameters and hence can analyze the performance of the stochastic vibroimpact systems.
